Who we are

Link Placement Checker is a Chrome extension published by Link Vista (linkvista.co.uk). This policy describes that extension only.

What the extension does

When you click the toolbar icon and choose Check this page, the extension reads the open tab in your browser. It looks for links that point at domains or URLs you typed, plus on-page signals such as title, canonical, meta robots, and, when the browser allows it, the X-Robots-Tag header. It can outline matching links and build a text, CSV, or HTML report.

Data we collect

This extension does not collect, transmit, or sell personal data. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no server of its own. Page content, the domains you type, and the report stay on your device unless you copy, download, or share them yourself.

What stays on this device

The extension stores two things in chrome.storage.local for this browser profile:

• The target list you save or check.
• The latest scan, including the visible URL, page title, robots and canonical signals, and the matching links’ hrefs, anchor text, rel attributes, and placement notes.

That copy is so the popup can reopen the last result. It is not synced to your Google account by this extension, and it is not sent to Link Vista. Remove it with Clear saved scan, delete the domains and click Save, or uninstall the extension.

The follow-up page request

To read X-Robots-Tag, the extension asks your browser to request the page you are already viewing. The response is used only to show that header, or to say the header was not visible. The request does not add a Link Vista identifier. The site you are visiting can see it the way it would see a reload. If the browser blocks the request, the extension says the header is not observable. The original navigation’s HTTP status is not available to the extension. The “visible URL” is the address bar.

Permissions

• activeTab — read the current tab only after you click the extension.
• scripting — run the extension’s own packaged file on that tab to collect link attributes and apply outlines. No code is downloaded.
• storage — keep the target list and the last scan on this device.

The extension does not request access to every website, your browsing history, or your camera, location, or identity.

Third parties

Fonts are included in the extension package. The popup does not load fonts, scripts, or images from the network. The footer link to linkvista.co.uk opens only when you click it.

Children

The extension is a professional tool for people checking published links. It is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date and version at the top of this page will change with the extension update.
